April is one of the most fantastic months on the Big T. Flows will come up and hopefully we will receive more snow so that we just might have a run-off which will be a healing relief for the river this year.

With April comes the small dark stonefly and the herald of spring, the BWO's that will turn those fish ON!

Early this month the midges will continue to rule, but soon those beautiful mayflies will begin to emerge and with them bring some of the best dry fly fishing of the year. I recommend a parachute mayfly pattern in a size 16-18. Why a parachute pattern, they ride low in the surface film and have a sparse silhouette and it'll make a difference, as the trout will be very picky. Trust me on this one, the early fishing on the Big T. should be some of the best .

If you see rising fish, try either a Griffith's Gnat or a BWO...if there aren't any risers, use a #16 P.T. or Hare's Ear nymph.
