August on the river will be hot, with respects to temperature and fishing.
The best fishing will be early in the morning or later in the evening. Temps will be creeping up and that'll mean for most of the afternoon the fish will sulk and wait until the caddis hatch in the evening. The fishing is excellent in that last hour before dark, you can squeeze a whole day's worth of fishing into an hour and a half if youre willing to wait until 7PM or so.
Caddis and H&L's are my favorites this time of year. Nymphs? Who needs 'em! This month stick with the drys and fish late.
Good luck
Greg
