St. Peter’s Fly Shop, Ft. Collins - (970) 498-8968 www.stpetes.com (Dave Cook, Andy Griguhn, Jin Choy, Grant Houx).

.Poudre River. Flows are racing along at 1800 fps through the canyon, and deep nymphing with large stonefly imitations, Prince Nymphs, Twenty inchers, Girdle Bugs and similar will be your best bet, but dry and dropper combinations, streamers and leech patterns are all producing too.

Angler’s Roost, Ft. Collins  - (970) 377-3785 www.anglers-roost.com (Gordon Waldmier, Rick Takahashi, Mark Brumbraugh, and Jason Haddix)

Delaney Buttes. It’s a matter of local history that the Delaney Buttes lakes (and the North Lake in particular) fish best early and late in the year, and early and late in the day. Or, to put it another way: early spring, late fall, after sundown and before sunup.

Estes Angler - (970) 586-2110 (Grant Rollo, Devan Ence) http://estesangler.com  (Grant Rollo, Devan Ence)

Big Thompson River in RMNP. Flows are averaging 240 CFS in the park, high but fishable in the eddies. Stoneflies, Caddis and Pale Morning Duns are the main hatches at the moment. PMD patterns to try — Hatchmasters, PMD Thorax and PMD Parachutes in sizes 16-18 for dries, and Pickpockets, Military Mays and Pheasant Tails for nymphs. Stoneflies and Caddis are also available so try using Stimulators in sizes 14-16, Elk Hair Caddis 16-18, Visible Caddis 16-18, Z-wing Caddis 16-18 or Hotwire Caddis in 16-18. The river is best fished with a dry and dropper rig right now.

On a personal note: Don’t forget our warm water fisheries. Fly fishing action is hot right now on our farm ponds, gravel pits and irrigation reservoirs for bass, bluegills, carp - and well - you never know what you might hook in a farm pond. I’ve caught all of the above on flies  plus catfish, perch, walleyes, crappies and 2 big ol’ bullfrogs. I’m serious.
