Word From The North

St. Peter’s Fly Shop, Ft. Collins - (970) 498-8968 www.stpetes.com
(Dave Cook, Andy Griguhn, Jin Choy, Grant Houx).Poudre River.

The Poudre remains frozen for much of its length, but adventurous anglers will find open water and good midging in the extreme lower reaches near Fort Collins as well as in the hatchery water upstream from Rustic.

Angler’s Roost, Ft. Collins (970) 377-3785   www.anglers-roost.com
(Gordon Waldmier, Rick Takahashi, Mark Brumbraugh, and Jason Haddix).

Gray Reef is fishing fair to good, but much of the North Platte is ice bound and unfishable. Action remains fair to good on the South Platte below Cheeseman Reservoir and in the Dream Stream where midges dominate the action. Regional favorites as well as the standard RS2s, Black Beauties, Mercury Midges, Zebra Midges are all taking fish. The Arkansas, Frying Pan and Blue are all fishing extremely well to midges and, surprisingly - small caddis and baetis dry flies.

Estes Angler - (970) 586-2110   http://estesangler.com   (Grant Rollo, Devan Ence)

Estes Angler remains closed for the season, but the Big T continues to produce some action in the tailwater stretch for anglers casting tiny baetis nymphs, emergers and midges. You’ll still find shelf and anchor ice in the darker, shadowed reaches of the canyon. Be careful.
