Word From The North

St. Peter’s Fly Shop, Ft. Collins - (970) 498-8968 www.stpetes.com

(Dave Cook, Andy Griguhn, Jin Choy, Grant Houx). Poudre River.

Flows are down, but clear and temps continue to hover in the forties on the Poudre and access is excellent along the entire drainage. Action remains good to great for dry fly anglers casting to hatches of blue-winged olives and midges. Some report they’re still catching fish on hoppers, though I suspect that won’t be happening for long.

Angler’s Roost, Ft. Collins - (970) 377-3785  www.anglers-roost.com

(Gordon Waldmier, Rick Takahashi, Mark Brumbraugh, and Jason Haddix).

The Delaney’s are beginning to ice up a tad (no surprise there, eh?) and the action is beginning to slow but is still rated as great by seasonal standards. If you hope to hook one of the North Lakes big autumn brown trout, you’d better hurry; winter comes early to North Park.

Estes Angler - (970) 586-2110   http://estesangler.com   (Grant Rollo, Devan Ence)

Estes Angler is closed for the season, but fishing is still very good on the Big T - particularly for anglers casting tiny BWOs, midges and - surprise, surprise - hopper/dropper rigs. The hopper action will no doubt fall off shortly, but the midge action will be superb until freeze up. Pick your days carefully.
